PROJECT CITIZEN
THE BAD
INFLUENCE OF VIDEO GAMES ON CHILDREN – February 24, 2005
This project
was conducted by teacher Santy Requejo’s Teacher Training group and in this
case the students were 40 Public School English Teachers. They focused their
attention on the bad influence of video games on children and that many
children have become addicted to these video games. The solutions recommended
were very effective.
The most
satisfactory feeling was to see the way teachers worked on their projects with
so much enthusiasm and responsibility. They have gotten not only the knowledge
but also the experience of being useful and perfectly able to share it with
their students at school; but overall I guess they have learned that they are
the ones who can change many things if they want to work together.
Santy Requejo

First meeting with ELT alumni- Mr. David Fay, Vicky Holdrige,Majid Safadaran and Santy Requejo.

Summer Language Institute for National School Teachers
The Summer Language
Institute engages Peruvian Binational Center teachers as agents of sustainable
community development as they provide national school teachers of English with
critical professional development for their success in the English language
classroom and a complete program of Foundations of democracy and Project
Citizen. What was originally designed to be a-two-month institute is now a year
round training program.
During the last
seven years ICPNA Chiclayo has trained over 200 public school teachers and currently a
new curriculum has been developed to make this a standard and an on-going
program that this Peruvian Binational Center would offer year after year,
completely free of charge. Every year we sign an agreement with the Regional
Director of the Ministry of Education who co-signs with us the final diplomas
awarded to the graduating public school teachers.
